Based on popular demand, AirKayaks packaged the best-selling, fold-up kayak for sale again, now with upgraded accessories from Advanced Elements - in a limited edition blue - to create the ultimate AdvancedFrame DS Series™.
Now, AirKayaks introduces the limited edition Advanced Elements AdvancedFrame DS-XLC Series™* inflatable kayak. With an identical footprint to the AdvancedFrame DS XL, the XLC has an added 5 inches in length over the standard AdvancedFrame, creating a kayak comfortable enough for both smaller and taller paddlers. The longer, streamlined body - in conjunction with the high pressure floor - provides better tracking and increased glide with minimal increase in weight, while an adjustable foot peg system allows paddlers to find the support perfect for their size and paddling style. This AdvancedFrame foldable kayak also features a removable, zip-on deck, allowing paddlers the flexibility of an open design for easy entry, or a closed, deck design for inclement weather and for attaching an optional spray skirt. A zippering pocket, bungee deck lacing and multiple d-rings on the deck allow paddlers to easily access gear. Additional d-rings along the kayak perimeter provide more attachment points for gear or for utilizing an optional Rapidup sail.Removable rigid ribs in the bow and stern are made of high grade aluminum, allowing the bow to slice through water like a knife. The stern acts as a skeg, which increases the tracking performance. When the chambers inflate, these ribs are pressed against the outer cover and form a high performance bow and stern which rival the tracking of a hard-shell day touring kayak yet still folds up compactly! The AdvancedFrame kayak is manufactured from extremely durable materials and high-end components. There is plenty of on-board storage space without cramping your leg room, making extended trips much more enjoyable. It sets up in just a few minutes, and is compact enough to take along for an adventure anywhere. The foldable kayak's durable double-coated fabric, heavy-duty PVC and electronically welded seams can take bumps, scrapes and rough water. If you love the water, but like to travel light, this sleek compact foldable kayak will add a new dimension to your outdoor adventures. From lakes, and mild rivers, to bays and estuaries, it is a delight to get on the water quickly; keep the foldable kayak deflated in the trunk of your car and the next time you're driving along a river, lake or bay, you can be fishing or paddling in just minutes! This is the perfect watercraft for campers, Rvers, travelers or those that just don’t want the hassle of roof racks! Backpack-style duffle bag included!

I wasn't able to open the package and check out the boat for several months, so I had a chance to forget details about my selection. I finally got to set it up and am so impressed with the clever design and the many cool features. Neoprene where my hands are going to incidentally rub the boat is brilliant. The seat is the best I've ever tried. The valves are super easy to work with. I love that the cockpit can be zipped off so it's like a sit on top. Of course there should be paddle straps on both sides! Redundancy in the inflation is the only way to go - I speak from experience. I have about four hand pumps and the yellow one included with this boat is the easily the best. I'm really really happy with this purchase.
Purchased this kayak too late in the season to get it out on the water, but I anticipate that I’ll love it. It’s a brother to the DS-XL Limited Edition DS which we’ve enjoyed for the past year. One of our grandkids will probably be the primary user and the open cockpit should lower the angle of attack for the paddle. It’ll actually be the fifth Advanced Element kayak that we own. My wife and I started 13 years ago with a tandem Dragonfly (tandem version of today’s Lagoon I think). We’ve loved it and introduced the grandkids to the water in it. When our granddaughter turned six we got an Advanced Frame DS, tethered it to our kayak with a 100’ rope, and let her go at it. Ditto with our grandson and the DS-XL. No one really wants to be in the tandem we now also own a 13’ Expedition Elite. We do all of our kayaking on lakes, lagoons, and slow water, and for those situations these kayaks have been great. The tandem has a backbone; the rest of the kayaks have the drop stitch floor. I’ve never used these kayaks without a rigid floor. They pack up nice and small and store easily in a small shed. I’m a patient guy who likes to take care of things, so drying and cleaning them out is not a big deal to me. Our 13 year old tandem shows just a bit of fading but otherwise looks and operates like new. My experience with customer service at both Air Kayaks and Advanced Elements has been great. Even though these kayaks have been on the market for some time, we always get questions and positive comments from people who’ve never seen them before.
Comfortable, pleasant. First time out - calm, lake waters. A little tight under the zip top, couldn’t have my feet vertical. Working with the seat for better back support. But, prep, pump up and launch pretty quick and easy. Took my time on the repack, but all went well. In the water it moves easy, tracks well, stable and very comfortable. This package, with the zip top, drop stitch floor and enhanced seat, seems well designed.
Well based in info from your great employee answering my question about my son being 6’4” and needing a longer kayak, I immediately bought one that she recommended for his Christmas present. So won’t be using till next spring.
It was a little bit of learning experience but am comfortable with my decision and think this is excellent product.
