It is heavier than expected but seems to be built well. I went to set it up yesterday and see it was missing the pump which I thought was included. I went to your site 3 or 4 times, watching for the deals, checking what is in stock or not and ordered the kayak thinking it came with the pump/gauge and repair kit. I will call in today to discuss. I waited to review the Kayaks until we had the opportunity to have them on water. First off, my spouse and I bought two different models. We are both in our mid-60’s and new to this sport. I chose the “Green -AE01012G” and for her the “Kayak AE1017” model. Before we went to water, we set up/took down both kayaks in the garage. The instructions are clear but both take time to understand and execute. I recommend this step to others who purchase the kayak. It makes the day at the lake much better having been through the procedure before. I would also highly recommend the purchase of the pumps with the kayaks. The air pumps are used for both inflation and deflation. Having a pump that does both inflation/deflation and with the right fittings is essential. There are significant differences in these models. The Green-AE01012G has seven inflation chambers, the AE1017 has only four. For this reason, set up time is longer for the Green model. The rated passenger weight capacity is much higher for the Green model. The Green model weighs 36 pounds and the AE1017 is 26 pounds. They both pack up to the size of a larger suitcase and are easily stored inside a SUV (along with a bicycle and fishing equipment). The cockpit is much more open for AE1017. This makes it much easier to get into and out of along with more freedom to move one’s legs while on the lake. This model is much better suited for calm mountain lakes. The Green model’s cockpit is much more enclosed. It is better suited for river settings where rougher water might be encountered. The smaller opening should reduce water taken onboard with rapids. The trade-off is much more difficult to get in and out of and leg freedom. Both models have high quality material and easy to manipulate on the water. The designs are well thought-out. My only improvement suggestion would be for more room in the packing bag for the pumps. It is a squeeze and at some point, may fail from being overstuffed.
Durable, & easy to inflate!
Took a little while to get the kayak blown up correctly. The Advanced Elements air pump has all the nozzles attached at the end of the tube and it makes it difficult to the correct nozzle attached securely. We were able to get the deflated kayak folded up after a few tries.
It’s perfect for my needs just toss it in my car and go.
