You might want to check your records - I did not get a paddle with my kayak and do not recall it being part of the basic bundle. Little problem with a malfunctioning pump, which I'm awaiting a replacement for. Since it's the middle of March, I cannot tell you more about how it works on the water but I did manage to inflate it with a different pump, and it stayed inflated so that's a good sign! If I get a new pump that works and they kayak floats, I will change this to a 5-star review.
I bought this 28 lb kayak so I could manage it by myself when I go kayaking. My rigid 16 foot, 55 lb sea kayak was difficult to put up on my racks and then take down and get to the put in. I generally kayak in relatively calm lakes or estuaries. My assessment on inflation of the kayak for use: I tried 3 methods. 1) I bought the double action AE pump. It pumped up the body of the kayak and 5 psi floor up and took me about 20 mins. Twist Valves fit well. The pumping was tiring for me however. 2) I tried a 4 D battery handheld pump for air mattresses. Only the round tapered end fit the Military and High pressure Halkey Robert’s floor valve and the valves needed to be open the valves and pump tip manually held in place. then quickly remove and turn the valve tip to prevent air from escaping. This was followed up with the hand pump to fully inflate. It worked pretty well to pump the boat. Timing about 15 mins total. 3) Next I tried a 12 volt pump ‘Outdoor Master’ so I could plug into my car lighter. Imagine my disappointment when I realized NONE of the valve tips worked with my AE boat valves. All the wrong size. They were too wide in diameter. Super annoying! To convert the valves I ******* the 12 volt pump Halkey Robert’s SUP screw valve into the 12 volt pump tube end and then fit a piece of plastic tubing that friction fit INTO the end of the HR valve. The other end friction fit tightly into the twist valves that came with the AE hand pump. This worked great except for the AE high pressure floor twist valve. The tubing wasn’t tight enough for the high pressure floor valve, so I used a second piece of tubing with electrical tape to make it fit. Anyways after some fiddling I was able to make all the valves connect and the 12 volt pump works great. It took two minutes to blow up the main body and a minute to blow up the high pressure floor! Score! Using the kayak once blown up was great, it tracks well with only a little yaw, easy to control and comfortable. I did take off my shoes so my feet were more comfortable and used a small blow up ball for support under my knees. I am a very happy self sufficient kayaker now!
AE1017DS. I bought this kayak to allow me to handle it by myself. My old 16 foot, 50 lb plus kayak was becoming too heavy for me to put on the car top and move easily. After blowing up the kayak at home as a trial, I found even with the double action pump it was a bit of a chore. I bought a quality 12 volt kayak, SUP pump and to my dismay none of the valves fit the valves on this kayak which was very annoying. However once pumped up it was a dream and tracked very well. Loving it and once I figure out the pump situation I will be an extremely happy paddler!
Nice, haven't taken it out yet but looks very rugged. I'm happily impressed.
I love my new kayak. It is easy to setup, stable and flows well in the water. The kayak is GREAT, but I rate the overall package as good, because of the bag. Mine came with a backpack bag. The hooks at top dig into my shoulders and the it is difficult to fit all the items (kayak, seat & pump) back into the bag. I gave up trying to fit the pump and will purchase another bag for it.
